Gerwyn Price warns Luke Littler and Luke Humphries after consulting sports psychologist

warned and “I’m getting back to my best” after speaking with a sports psychologist.

Price defeated Littler en route to a first ranking title in over a year, claiming the Players Championship 2 win.

The Welshman defeated Chris Dobey in a thrilling 8-7 final, having beaten Ryan Searle, Littler, Martin Schindler, Jonny Clayton, Danny Lauby and William Borland also in Wigan, banking £15,000 in the process.

And he credited his inspired form to sitting down with a psychologist and feeling more positive about .

“I think Chris [Dobey] played better than me in that final, but I hung in there until the end,” Price told the PDC. “Today has been brilliant. Yesterday I played really well too. I’m getting back to my best.

“I’m enjoying the game more. I think my mentality and the way I think has changed, and it has just benefitted me. I had a little bit of help with a sports psychologist before the , which really helped.

“There’s a lot more positivity in my game now, and it seems to be working. I know how well I am playing, but when it comes to the big games sometimes, I am trying too hard because I want it too much.

“This is what I needed. This win will hopefully make things come a little bit easier, because when you’re winning you don’t try too hard.”

Price at one stage appeared to be falling at the final hurdle inside the Robin Park Leisure Centre, having trailed Dobey 6-3 in the final.

The 39-year-old had been defeated by Dobey in his opening match of the 2025 Premier League season and was heading for a repeat, but Dobey failed on four darts for a 7-3 lead.

Price checked out on 78 and then bagged consecutive 14-darters to draw level in the final.

They went down to a decider where 2021 world champion Price came out on top, scooping his first ProTour title since November 2023.

He said: “We didn’t really talk about crowds. We talked about me and what I bring to the stage.

“The psychologist I was speaking to is a darts fan and he reminded me that as well as darts players, we’re entertainers, we need to enjoy it while we’re up there.

“It just reminded me of things that I’ve done in the past, and how well I have played, how well I can play and how much I can improve. And just by talking to someone and someone giving you a bit of good comments and positivity just really helps sometimes.

“I’m not sure what it is, but I just feel different, lot more positive energy around me. I just feel a lot more focused as well.”
