Asda customers who have bought the above product and have an allergy to soya and/or a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide or sulphites and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten and/or coeliac disease, have been warned “do not eat it”.

Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

Anaphylaxis.org states that most people who react to sulphites have sensitivity rather than an allergy. However, it can cause allergy-type symptoms that can sometimes be serious.

The main symptoms of sulphite sensitivity include irritated, tight, or constricted airways. Wheezing, a tight chest, a cough, hives, stomach pain or vomiting and worsening eczema are also common.

Symptoms of wheat allergies include hives, stomach issues, and nasal congestion. Symptoms of gluten intolerance include abdominal pain and frequent bloating.

Coeliac disease can range from mild to severe, and symptoms often come and go. The NHS states that common symptoms include diarrhoea, abdominal pain, bloating, indigestion, constipation, vomiting, fatigue, and an itchy rash.
