CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Tuesday lost his cool with former New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu and flat-out told the Donald Trump-defending Republican: “Don’t be a dick.”
The diss came during a panel discussion on tech billionaire Elon Musk’s Oval Office press conference alongside the president, during which Musk listed purported wasteful government spending identified by his non-official Department of Government Efficiency.
Sununu praised Musk. But Cooper contended that no actual evidence was given to back up special government employee Musk’s claims.
As the exchange started to fray, Cooper told Sununu not to “put words in my mouth” and then the anchor snapped: “Don’t be a dick.”
Cooper later apologized to Sununu, who in recent months has morphed from a Trump critic to an acolyte.
“I was mean, I was rude to you,” Cooper said.
Sununu downplayed the barb. “Are you kidding?” He asked. “I grew up with seven brothers and sisters, and I’m a Sununu.”

“I don’t know why I said that,” said Cooper.
“It’s post-eight o’clock. Have some fun on CNN,” Sununu responded.
“I don’t wanna do that,” Cooper replied.
