right-back Diogo Dalot has given head coach an overwhelming seal of approval by revealing his confidence that he can turn the team into champions. Amorim has endured a turbulent start to life as United boss with aggressively mixed results across the board, but he has the backing of the club’s hierarchy, fans, and dressing room.
The Portuguese tactician has been reacquainted with the taste of defeat at Old Trafford after building a dominant empire at Sporting.
United are slumped in 13th in the Premier League, leaving winning the Europa League or FA Cup their most realistic hope of European qualification next season.
The Red Devils have grown used to losing at home and in general, which has left many questioning how long it can continue before players start losing faith that Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system will work.
But Dalot has boosted his compatriot with huge public praise, hailing three traits of his management style that have won the squad over.
“If you want me to be completely honest, with this manager, I think we can win a Premier League,” Dalot vowed to United’s Local Supporters’ Club.
“I think realistically we can win. But then it becomes the most difficult thing to hear as a fan: that it will take time.

“I understand. I’m a player but, at the same time, I know what you feel. I know that this club is thirsty to win, and everybody wants to win.
“We’re not talking about cups – I know that is important, to win trophies – but what brought this club to what it is is big trophies.
“I think we can win a Premier League with this manager, but at the same time, we need to create an environment where he has everything set for what he wants from the players.
“We need to also adapt to the system. It will take some time.
“Obviously we cannot think too much ahead, but I’m really convinced that the way he conducts himself, the way that he communicates with players, the idea that he has… we can do it.
“Now it becomes the most difficult part, but being really honest and positive about it, I think we can win big trophies with this manager.”
Dalot has been a prominent fixture in Amorim’s team at the start of his reign, predominantly covering at left-wing-back.
But with Patrick Dorgu arriving in January, the 25-year-old should return to his natural side for the remainder of the season.
