A popular figure from Call the Midwife is set for a sensational return to the series after an eight-year hiatus. Devotees of the programme were ecstatic as Chris Harper, who embodies nurse Trixie’s sibling Geoffrey Franklin, made an appearance in the 2024 Christmas special.
The actor has disclosed that he’ll be revisiting his character after departing from the show years earlier. The 47-year-old, recently notorious for portraying dastardly Nathan Curtis on ITV’s a character imprisoned for grooming Bethany Platt expressed his enjoyment in playing Geoffrey due to the stark contrast with his villainous role, according to the Mirror.
Chris enthused about his upcoming return: “I’m hoping very soon Geoffrey from Call the Midwife will be making his return to Poplar. The series that’s on telly at the moment, I will be appearing again at the back end of. Which I absolutely love doing.”
He hailed the familia environment of the show, describing the cast and crew of Call the Midwife as a joy to work with. He explained his affection for playing Geoffrey, highlighting that the character is very much a helper and stands as the complete antithesis to Nathan, reports .

In further comments made to The Sun, Chris remarked: “He’s [Geoffrey] a completely different character. And when I get spotted in the street, I definitely inherited niceness. There are people who know that Geoffrey from Call the Midwife is lovely, so I think they just assume I am. And so I benefit from that. Nobody’s ever met me on the street and assumed I’m like Nathan.”
