Elon Musk only has one “endgame” and it isn’t global domination, according to one political expert.

The world’s richest man has unleashed a string of tirades on his social media platform X in recent weeks, from taking aim at the UK government to suggesting the English Channel should be renamed.

But, quelling fears that the billionaire could be planning to wade into UK politics, ’s Dr Matt Mokhefi-Ashton says that his ultimate goal is the colonisation of Mars.

The award-winning academic, and expert in British, American, and European politics, told Express.co.uk that Musk’s main ambition is to colonise Mars and the US government was his way to achieve that aim.

Dr Matt added that the strategy was all part of Musk wanting to be in the history books as taking humanity to the red planet. He also claimed thathis attitude to USAID (United States Agency for International Development) followed a theme of corporate “deforestation” that began when he bought Twitter (now X) in 2022.

Dr Matt told this site: “If you look at virtually everything that he does across multiple fields, it is all towards this kind of sort of endgame of colonising Mars. If you look at sort of Tesla and companies that he involved in all the rest of it he’s been quite open about this, the idea of creating a colony on Mars.

“I don’t think he wants power. I don’t think he wants to be president or anything like that. I think something like that would honestly from what I’ve read about and would bore him.”

On Musk’s concerning actions towards USAID – a move described as a form of state capture by some commentators – Dr Matt remarked: “So there’s bits of the state that he sees as inefficient. He did this when he came in sort of Twitter this deforestation, just removing anyone that he thought was wasteful or wasn’t working hard enough.”

He added that if USAID collapses or becomes more restricted there could be some consequences. He went on: “I think in some places it’s going to be really bad. It’s going to have a very negative impact.”

DON’T MISS [REPORT]

Returning to ’s approach, Dr Matt talked about some of the risks facing one of the richest men in the world. He said: “I think the risk is people who could come in and say ‘We need to hold you to account about what you’re doing on social media. We need to hold you to account for this that and the other.’ And again, looking at his history, he wants to be in a position where he can do what he feels that he needs to do to achieve his ultimate objectives.”

Whilst the unelected Musk has only been on the inside of government for a few weeks, his and President ’s actions have already begun to have worldwide consequences.

In his home country of South Africa, one with one of the world’s worst HIV/AIDS epidemics, people are worrying they’ll lose treatment for aids because of Musk’s actions which have been put on hold thanks to federal employee unions challenging them in the courts.

The service is run by PEPFAR – the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief – that faces cuts. Activist Nelly Zulu told the service saved her life but could cost those of pregnant women if the aid stops.

She explained: “It helped me so much because if I didn’t get the treatment, I don’t think I would be alive – even my son. My concern is for pregnant women. I don’t want them to go through what I went through – the life I was facing before. I’m scared we will go back to that crisis.”
