Alex de Minaur ‘doesn’t like’ rivals as Aussie gets honest after Rotterdam Open loss

has jokingly claimed that he “doesn’t like” some of his rivals after losing in the Rotterdam Open final for the second year running.

picked up his first indoor title on Sunday, beating the Aussie 6-4 3-6 6-2.

It was another blow for De Minaur after defeated him in last year’s championship match. And the world No. 6 has now shared his honest feelings about his conquerors.

De Minaur stormed through the draw in Rotterdam on his way to the final. He didn’t drop a set en route and hadn’t lost more than eight games in a single match.

But that changed on Sunday, as Alcaraz survived a second-set wobble to win in a decider, leaving De Minaur as the runner-up again. The Australian jokingly made his feelings clear after the match.

Taking to , he wrote: “Ahhhhhh I don’t like you either @carlitosalcarazz. Another great week here in @abnamroopen, I’ll get the title one day.”

De Minaur went with a similar caption when Sinner beat him to pick up the Rotterdam title last February. “I don’t like you anymore @janniksin,” he penned in jest.

Eagle-eyed tennis fans quickly picked up on the similarities between De Minaur’s captions. And the 25-year-old also poked fun at his feelings towards his rivals in a separate story.

“Starting not to like too many players on tour,” the Aussie wrote, adding laughing emojis.

De Minaur has now felt the wrath of both Alcaraz and Sinner. Although he lost on Sunday, he admitted he found it easier to face the Spaniard.

After the final, the world No. 6 explained: “I can target him and make his life difficult. With Jannik it’s definitely different and I haven’t managed to do anything yet.

“This is the beauty of tennis, there are different levels of play and different styles of play. The tennis player at the highest level should win, but a certain type of play can be more annoying than another.”

De Minaur might have a chance to test himself against the young champions next week, as all three players are competing at the Qatar Open in Doha.

The tournament kicks off on De Minaur’s birthday next Monday, with the likes of and also in the draw.

For the first time, Doha will be an ATP 500 event after being upgraded from its previous ATP 250 status.
