have agreed to loan to Flamengo until the end of the season while covering most of his salary, according to reports. The UK transfer window may have slammed shut last Monday, but the Brazilian window remains open until February 28, which has left the door open for a departure.
Casemiro is on the fringes of ‘s squad and has been an unused substitute in nine of United’s last 11 Premier League games.
However, the 32-year-old is the club’s highest earner, pocketing £350,000 per week on a contract that runs until next summer.
Casemiro was linked with multiple clubs in January, including Al-Nassr, AS Roma and Besiktas, but a move didn’t come to fruition.
He looked set to stay at Old Trafford until at least the summer after the UK deadline passed with nothing in the works.
But interest has reportedly emerged from the midfielder’s homeland, which could spark a move in the next two weeks.
According to Brazilian reporter Jorge Nicola, cited in , Flamengo have made an approach to sign Casemiro on loan for the rest of the campaign.
Flamengo boss Filipe Luis, former Atletico Madrid and full-back, is said to have green-lit a swoop to rescue the veteran from his United exile.

While Casemiro earns an eye-watering salary, it’s claimed that the Red Devils are willing to continue covering most of it to offload him.
He has featured just twice since the turn of the year, from the bench on both occasions, and is clearly not a part of Amorim’s plans for next season.
The report adds that while Luis would love to add Casemiro to his ranks, the operation is tricky due to the finances involved.
Flamengo are said to understand it would represent a risky move even if they are only contributing towards a small slice of the five-time Champions League winner’s wages.
Amorim hasn’t shied away from making it clear that Casemiro doesn’t have much of a future at Old Trafford while he’s at the helm.
“Sometimes it’s a system fit – sometimes it’s the player’s [form],” Amorim explained last month.
“We know that Casemiro nowadays has other qualities. He’s intelligent, understands the game and knows where the ball is going to be.
“But, we are in a league where there is a big intensity difference. Therefore, I feel our team needs players with high intensity, and sometimes we don’t have them.
“We all know Casemiro’s qualities and everything he has won, so I have nothing to add to that. It’s just a selection choice.”
