Thousands of farmers will descend onto London later this afternoon in protest against Rachel Reeves’s inhertance tax raid.

Tractors are expected to come into the Capital in convoy ahead of speeches at 3pm opposite Downing Street.

Demonstrations in recent months have attempted to show thw Government how concerned rural communities are about changes announced at October’s budget.

Labour’s plans to impose 20% inheritance tax on farms worth more than £1 million – or £3 million in some circumstances.

Bur farmers have warned this threatens the nation’s food security as many would have to sell land to afford the tax bill.

The Daily Express’s has demanded a U-turn.

Why are farming protests taking place today?

The tractor rally on Monday, organised by Save British Farming, comes as MPs debate an e-petition with more than 148,000 signatures calling to keep the current inheritance tax exemptions for working farms.

Labour has insisted it will not make a U-turn on its plans to introduce a 20% inheritance tax rate on farms worth more than £1 million.

The changes announced in the Budget are due to come into force in April 2026 and scrap an exemption which meant no inheritance tax was paid to pass down family farms.
