Paul McCartney’s Super Bowl appearance has fans demanding ‘petition’

icon, 82, was joined by Adam Sandler, Paul Rudd and Rob Manfred as he watched the Kansas City Chiefs face off against the Philadelphia Eagles in the 59th Super Bowl.

But along with being shocked that Paul had flown out to New Orleans for the big game, fans took to social media to make a series of demands. One X user was desperate to see Paul take to the stage for the Halftime Show in place of rapper Kendrick Lamar.

They posted: “Petition to let Paul McCartney do the halftime show!”

Someone else quickly agreed: “Paul McCartney is at the Super Bowl. He should be performing the Halftime Show!”

“They could have called in Paul McCartney. He was right there!” a third posted. And someone else chimed in: “That halftime show would have improved immensely if they called Paul McCartney from the stands for a song.”

“They had Paul McCartney sitting in the audience, he could have come out and actually entertained us,” a fifth posted.

Paul has in fact performed at the NFL game before, heading things up in 2005. He opened with a rendition of Drive My Car, followed by Get Back and James Bond theme Live and Let Die. Hey Jude rounded off the performance, with 84,000 people in attendance.

It comes as fans branded the national anthem “shameful” and “disrespectful” as Jon Batiste performed a “jazzed up” version of the Star Spangled Banner.

One fan fumed: “Sing the national anthem like the national anthem. It’s not a jazz improv song! This is shameful.” As someone else said: “I think you disrespect the national anthem by trying to jazz it up. Sorry, but not really sorry.”
