Kendrick Lamar will follow in the footsteps of the greatest musicians in the industry, including Michael Jackson, Prince, and Beyonce. The 22-time Grammy Award winner will grace the field tonight (February 9) at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans as the Chiefs look to achieve a historic three-peat against the Philadelphia Eagles.

It is not his first appearance, having performed alongside Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Mary J Blige and Eminem in 2022.

With a lucrative career spanning nearly two decades, a diverse property portfolio and brand endorsements, the Compton-born rapper has a substantial net worth.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the 37-year-old’s net worth is estimated to be $140 million (£112 million) as of 2025.

The rapper has earned more than $250 million (£201 million) throughout his career, with significant earnings coming from music sales, streaming royalties, touring, endorsements, and real estate investments.

How much is Kendrick Lamar being paid to perform at the Super Bowl?

Despite the platform’s global exposure, Super Bowl halftime show performers do not receive a direct payment from the National Football League (NFL).

Instead, artists rely on exposure to boost music sales, streaming numbers, and future touring revenue.

The NFL has previously said that it does not pay the artists for their performances but does help to cover expenses and production costs.

They help pay for the set, special effects and any extras when it comes to the performance production.

In 2020, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez’s performance is said to have cost around $13million, while in 2021, the Weeknd’s cost was very similar.

When the NFL announced Kendrick Lamar as the Super Bowl halftime performer, his music’s streams shot up 435 per cent in the hour after the announcement.

Will Kendrick Lamar perform Not Like Us?

Kendrick Lamar and Drake have traded diss tracks during their epic feud, which came to a head in the summer of 2024.

Now, just days after winning five Grammys for his Drake diss track “Not Like Us,” including the coveted Record of the Year and Song of the Year trophies, questions remain if the LA rapper will perform the song where he made damning accusations against Drake.

Drake is at the centre of an explosive defamation suit between and Universal Music Group, the label home to both artists. Drake claims UMG promoted a song that spreads false allegations about him; the label group says it merely supported the creative expression of a Pulitzer-winning artist on its roster.

With more than 80,000 people in attendance at the Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday and likely over 100 million people watching at home, fans are eager to see if the hit song will be performed.

According to reports, it could be hard for K-Dot to perform his smash hit amid claims of defamation. However, legal experts insist the risk is low.

Criminal defence attorney Ken White told The Los Angeles Times, “I’m a defence lawyer, so, of course, I’m going to say, ‘Guys, don’t do this. It’s just going to give me a headache.’

“I’m sure every general counsel with the network or the NFL is saying, ‘No, for the love of God, don’t do it.’ But the halftime show has always been willing to showcase stuff that is somewhat edgy. So I don’t really know how they’ll play it, but if I were an in-house counsel, I’d be telling them not to do it.”

Super Bowl LIX will take place tonight.

Kick-off is scheduled for 11:30pm UK time, with the halftime show expected at around 1am.
