The host of the car restoration series said individuals may believe fitting seasonal tyres is a waste of money. 

However, he stressed could actually have some tangible benefits and save cash in the long run.

Speaking to experts at , Fuzz explained: “A cynic might suggest that fitting seasonal tyres or those specific to certain terrains is just a way of manufacturers selling more tyres. 

“It’s a fact that having the correct tyres for the usage conditions can not only assist your vehicle’s handling, but it can also reduce component wear throughout the drivetrain, thus saving you money. 

“Think of your car’s tyres as its shoes; summertime flip-flops wouldn’t be such a great idea in mid-winter snow and ice.”

“It’s best to wait for the temperature change to stabilize, in case you’re just experiencing a short cold snap. 

“The same principles apply once the weather begins to warm up, so once temperatures are consistently above 7°C, you can change back to your summer tyres.”
