Shower doors are easy to clean if you simple items instead of spending money on cleaning solutions (Image: Katherine McPhillips)
If your shower screen is looking grubby after cleaning it then you may be using the wrong products, but there is a simple way to get the glass sparkling in 10 minutes.
doors tend to be difficult to keep as soap, body oils and minerals from water can stick tightly to the glass surface no matter how many times you try to wipe them.
It is important to clean shower glass at least once a week as it can attract bacteria and moisture, which can cause mould to grow, which can be even more difficult to get rid of.
This last week, I have been having trouble getting my shower door completely clean and decided to look online to see if there are any solutions.
It turns out a really easy way to remove shower door is to simply use washing-up liquid and lemon juice, as they both can tackle even the toughest grime.

All I needed to clean my shower door was washing-up liquid and lemon juice (Image: Katherine McPhillips)
It may sound bizarre, but lemon juice contains citric acid, which can dissolve water mineral stains (also known as limescale) and also help break down soap buildup.
Lemon juice is also mildly antibacterial and will keep the glass clean and shiny so there are no marks on it.
Washing-up liquid is designed to remove grease from dishes, and works just as well to remove body oil and soap marks from glass.
Mixing both lemon juice and washing-up liquid loosens any stains on the glass and makes it easier to wipe away without having to scrub at the glass for ages.
How to properly clean shower door glass
All you need to do is mix one part lemon juice and one part warm water in a empty spray bottle.
Then add a couple of squirts of washing-up liquid. Be careful as I discovered the mixture is quite foamy so make sure to screw the cap on quickly to stop it from overflowing from the spray bottle.

Once the spray cap is on, give the bottle a good shake to mix everything together. Spray a generous amount on your shower glass and then leave it alone for 10 minutes.
It is important to give the cleaning solution time to break down the grime and stains on the glass.
Make sure your shower door is facing inside the bathtub or shower so when you spray your cleaning solution it doesn’t end up soaking your floor.
Once the time is up, I simply use a clean cloth to wipe down my shower door and the stains came away easily.
I then rinsed with warm water and polished the glass dry with another clean cloth, and my shower door was completely clear without leaving behind any marks or streaks.
