The tension escalates at the corporate retreat as Irving grows suspicious of Helly’s ‘true’ identity, and an intimate moment unfolds between Mark and Helly in the tents.
As anticipated, Helly is unmasked as her ‘outie’ Helena Eagan, leading to a confrontation where Irving threatens to submerge the influential heiress until Seth Milchick, the reluctant manager, is forced to revert her. This leaves Irving’s future uncertain, with Milchick declaring he will be “forcibly retired”.

user @sunk1ra sparked a frenzy among fans with their observation of the puppet version of Helly in the corporate video, exclaiming: “Insane foreshadowing.”
The image captured Helly’s head plunged into water during a pineapple bobbing scene, while her colleagues appear alarmingly concerned.
Fans were quick to react, with one saying: “Nice catch, need to go back and rewatch that episode now.” And another expressing astonishment, writing: “Consider my mind blown.”
A third fan recalled feeling a sense of deja vu during a drowning scene, praising: “When she was getting drowned, my mind was telling me I’d seen this before, but I didn’t realise it was the new orientation vid. Good catch.”
The discussion heated up as one viewer pointed out the symbolism of flames erupting from Irving’s head, commenting: “And Irving was fired, the stop-motion showed his head on fire.”
Theories abounded, with one fan suggesting: “Pretty sure all of that video was foreshadowing. The snacks and Dylan’s reaction. The mirror room. Irvs head on fire. All of it is foreshadowing.”
Speculation about Irving’s fate continued, with a fan writing: “Irv gonna end up in that hall of mirrors for drowning helena.” (sic)
While another anticipated a related scene: “Yess! Also there’s a clip of Irv sweating in the hall of mirrors I’ll bet we’ll see.” (sic)
One enthusiast even proposed that the show’s events might not be chronological, pondering: “Foreshadowing or are the timelines not quite as they seem?”
This theory was supported by another fan who believed the series is being told in reverse, as they added: “This. When season 2 started I wrote the timelines are not linear. We’re gonna watch the end before the beginning; it’s basically told in reverse.”
Severance season 2, episode 5 airs on Friday, February 14 on Apple TV+.
