From Monday (February 10) the winter white out looks set to pummel much of the western side of the country, with Wales, western England and Scotland also getting a significant covering.
of snow coould converge on the country, with Yorkshire, the north east of England and the Midlands all in the firing line for a flurry.
Icy biting winds as cold as -7C from the east and Scandanavia have also triggered health alerts for cold weather from the UK Health Security Agency.
The yellow cold alerts are in place across the northeast, southwest Yorkshire and the Humber, and the southeast from 9am on Friday until 9am on Tuesday.

By midnight on Tuesday, there’s even a chance parts of southern England will see snow, with a stretch of cold conditions heading from Bristol across to Oxford, and even the outskirts of London.
spokesman Stephen Dixon said: “February has started warmer than average, so it’s going to be a return to more typical February averages, albeit a bit colder.
“There’s a chance of some snow drifting into parts of the south of England and south Wales. However, this is relatively short-lived, and it’s not expected to be impactful at the moment.”
There is also a chance of wintry showers on Monday, which is something the is keeping an eye on, Mr Dixon said.

Day-time temperatures will be “slightly below” the average maximum for February which is 7C, he said.
According to the snow and sleet could be expected, with higher ground getting a bigger dusting.
The forecast from the national weather body for Monday and Tuesday said: “Remaining rather cold throughout with plenty of cloud around.
“Risk of some further rain at times, especially in the east, with some sleet and snow possible, mainly over hills.”

Today:
A rather cloudy and cold day with outbreaks of rain and hill snow moving northwards. Mostly dry for Northern Ireland and northwest Scotland where there will be spells of sunshine, with some late sunshine also developing for southeast England.
Tonight:
Largely cloudy with occasional rain, and also hill snow in the north. Some clearer spells, especially northern Scotland and southern England, giving a risk of a frost here.
Sunday:
Another rather cloudy and cold day with some further spells of rain and drizzle, especially in the east. Brightest conditions in sheltered parts of the west and northwest.
