Travis Kelce has poured money into a new state-of-the-art security system
Travis Kelce has reportedly beefed up his security ahead of Super Bowl LIX following a break-in at his Texas home before Christmas. The star’s £5million property was raided, with many prized possessions taken.
Burglars fled with £81,000 in jewellery, £16k in cash, and the match-worn shirt from Kelce’s first Super Bowl Championship. The 35-year-old’s watch was later recovered in Rhode Island.
It came following a string of burglaries that the FBI continue to investigate. Kelce’s Chiefs team-mate Patrick Mahomes was also targeted just 24 hours before. Fellow NFL colleague Joe Burrow and NBA stars Luka Doncic, Bobby Portis and Mike Conley Jr are victims of similar break-ins.
Kelce is said to still be feeling the effects of the robbery and has spent tens of thousands on a state-of-the-art security system to prevent similar episodes. According to , he spent £7k on two security dogs and £32k on 10 new security cameras and lights with motion sensors.
Security guards now patrol Kelce’s house around the clock. He has also invested in a safe room.
“Travis felt the urgency of taking care of this situation as soon as possible. It was very uncomfortable to deal with,” a source told the newspaper.
“Travis decided to do things the best way, investing money on alarms and security personnel and dogs to put himself in the safest situation possible. All he wants is to be safe.
“Travis’ house is a sanctuary for him and his family and loved ones. He doesn’t want to go through a bad situation like the robbery ever again.”
Kelce will hope his property is in safe hands while he travels away for tomorrow’s Super Bowl. The Chiefs can make history by becoming the first team to ever win the prize three years in a row.
Taylor Swift will be at Super Bowl LIX supporting boyfriend Travis Kelce
They face a repeat of their 2023 victory when they meet the Philadelphia Eagles. Kelce’s girlfriend, pop star Taylor Swift, is expected to be among the many celebrities in attendance.
“Playoff football is the most meaningful football that you’ll ever play in your life,” Kelce said in a recent video.
“I cherish every single play, man, I really do. When you’re in it, you’re always trying to strive for greatness, being greater than what you are.
“You know, obviously there’s a historic run and something that we can achieve that no other team has ever achieved, and that fuels you.”
