But did you know that there are a number which can help prevent as they love humidity and moisture?

The experts at shared an extensive list of plants which can give your  a ‘spa-like’ ambience while also doing you a favour.

The , they said, work hard to ‘soak up water’ and keep under control.

They can work as a ‘natural dehumifier’ in your house, especially if you’re worried about the development of damp and mould growth.

Peace lily

These plants thrive in the humidity, with the experts saying are the best plants for absorbing moisture, as well as “purifying” the air around them. To keep them at their best, it’s advisable to keep the plants in plenty of sunshine. 

What’s also great about peace lilies is that they are a minimal fuss kind of plant. Keep its soil moist and they will continue to thrive.

Spider plant

Another low maintenance plant, spider plants do well at absorbing moisture and air pollutants. It’s best to keep them in bright, direct sunlight.

Snake plant

Snake plants are also a popular houseplant to pop on your windowsill. It can help dehumidify your bathroom as well as purify the air around it. 

What’s great about these plants is that they function in either bright or low light. You’ll need to remember to give this water to keep up with the humid bathroom environment.

Boston fern

The first fern on the list, the Boston fern, absolutely loves humidity. It’s also one of the best plants when it comes to moisture absorption.

A warning sign that it’s a bit dehydrated is that its leaves will turn yellow. If your shower time isn’t doing the job, you can give it an extra mist.

Bird’s nest fern

The next fern is the Bird’s nest fern. These can work well either in the bathroom or kitchen.

Tillandsia

Tillandsia is native to forests, mountains and deserts of the Neotropics, which stretch from northern Mexico all the way to parts of central South America. What’s great about these plants is that they don’t need any soil to grow, taking all of its nutrients from the air and moisture around it.

Orchid

are popular plants to decorate every room of your house. As they are tropical, they love being in humid environments. 

Being placed on a windowsill in bright, indirect sunlight in the bathroom can help them bloom and grow. 

Aloe vera

Succulents such as aloe vera are a great plant for homes, as they love the sunshine, but require little watering. Its leaves can also double up as a great way to help soothe the skin.

Azalea

Mira Showers also recommended azaleas, saying they are “right at home in the bathroom”. They can also be a great decorative feature, adding a pop of colour. 

Begonia

Lastly, the begonia. Native to moist and tropical climates, begonias are some of the best plants for absorbing moisture. 

With enough moisture, you can grow them to flower colourful, fragrant flowers when they’re at their happiest.
