Hit comedy series taken off air by Channel 4 bosses for surprise reason

Joe Lycett’s hit comedy series on Channel 4 has been paused by bosses as he is taking extended paternity leave. The show first aired in 2023 and has featured various celebrity guests since its debut.

Late Night Lycett usually hits our television screens in April, so pre-production would usually be underway by now. However, the show will return supposedly at a later date.

An inside source told : “Late Night Lycett is a hugely popular format and one that want to keep on air.

“Joe’s witty one-liners as well as the show’s comedy and feel-good vibe means it’s not shy of attracting big names out on a Friday evening like Alesha Dixon and Elizabeth Hurley.

“Channel 4 are keen for another series but at the moment Joe has taken extended time off to be with his newborn son and family. It means meetings around the future of Late Night Lycett have not been able to take place.”

Joe became a father for the first time in October last year. He announced the exciting news on social media, writing: “An appreciation post from me for the extraordinary @bham_womens hospital.

“My first encounter with them was years ago when they looked after a pal of mine through surgery, and then most recently when they masterfully welcomed a little boy into the world, who happens to be my son.

“The care and compassion his mum and he received was exceptional; from the antenatal classes, incredible midwives, consultants, doctors, nurses and the ongoing care in the community. We also loved their baked potatoes.

“Birmingham is so lucky to have them and I will be forever grateful for everything they’ve done.”
