New crime drama series hailed as ‘gripping’ lands on Netflix

A gripping new crime drama has just dropped on Netflix, and it’s poised to captivate TV enthusiasts.

The Åre Murders is a brand-new Swedish crime series based on two bestselling books, Hidden in Snow and Hidden in the Shadows, by acclaimed author Viveca Sten.

With over 10 million copies sold in more than 40 countries, the books have garnered rave reviews online, with fans praising them as “gripping” and an “enjoyable mystery thriller” that “keeps you in suspense to the end”.

The series follows police officer Hanna Ahlander, who, after being suspended from her job and dumped by her partner, escapes to her sister’s holiday home in Are, where the drama unfolds.

According to the show’s synopsis: “When a young woman goes missing on the icy night of Lucia, Hanna can’t help but start investigating the case. With a tough family situation and an understaffed police station, local police officer Daniel Lindskog reluctantly has to accept Hanna’s help. But the big question is whether they can trust each other.”

The TV series boasts an impressive cast, including Carla Sehn, Kardo Razzazi, Charlie Gustafsson, Francisco Sobrado, and Amalia Holm.

Released on 6 February, it remains to be seen if The Åre Murders will dominate ‘s most-watched chart, but all signs point to a thrilling success, reports .
