One of the most popular destinations at this time of year is as it’s a great place to catch some winter sun. This is because the is still warm, the skies are often clear and there are fewer crowds around.

All in all, if you want to escape the cold weather for a little peace and quiet, it’s a good place to visit. However, a creator recently issued a stark warning to anyone planning on heading there.

According to George Buckley, there’s something vital you need to know about transport when you’re travelling. He urged people not to get a taxi while on in Tenerife.

He said it will save you “a lot of money” if you find other ways to get around and he wants people to know about it. George explained all a candid video online.

Don’t miss…

George said: “Don’t get a taxi from the airport. Use the public buses. We used it to get from a 40 minute journey from the south terminal to get over to our airport, and it cost us €4.

“You can pay by cash, or you can pay by their local little top up card, but it’s easier to just pay by cash. It is a green bus, which looks like this.

“We’re currently waiting for our return one – it is the number 40. Taxis and Ubers will cost €50 – we checked. Obviously, you can split it but, if you actually want to save a good amount of money, take the local transport.

“It’s definitely worth while and it’s what we’re doing again on the way back. It’s very nice as well. It might be quite crowded, you might have to stand up, but it’s worth it.”

Don’t pay for taxis in Tenerife!❌

The video has been viewed thousands of times since it was shared, and people were quick to comment too. Some shared their own experiences.

One person said: “Good advice. Taxis are a rip off.” Another wrote: “I went three weeks ago and stopped in Las Americas, wanted €55 for a taxi. Walked 10 minutes to the bus stop, and paid €3.70 for 20 minute direct bus to airport.”

Others said they haven’t found it as expensive though, with a third adding: “Buses are good, but it isn’t €50 for a taxi to the airport. It’s €30 to €35.”

Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: “Literally paid €30 for a taxi a few days ago, and straight to the door of the hotel.”
