might live to regret sending Joao Felix on loan to at the very end of the January transfer window.

The forward will remain in Italy until the end of the season despite only joining in the summer. He arrived from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth around £46million but has already been deemed surplus to requirements.

It has been reported by that if everything goes to plan, the Blues will hope to make a profit on the Portuguese playmaker by selling him in the summer.

There is a possibility that ‘s plan will not work out as intended, though. They took a similar approach with Tiemoue Bakayoko, who struggled to impress at Stamford Bridge before he was shipped out to the San Siro on loan.

would have been hoping for Bakayoko to shine with the aim of selling him on for a profit, either to AC Milan themselves or another interested party.

However, the midfielder failed to pull up any trees and ended up leaving on a free transfer in the summer of 2023. He is now a bit-part player for Greek side PAOK, having made just four league appearances over the course of this season.

It remains to be seen if Felix will go down a similar path, with plenty riding on his loan spell at AC Milan. If he struggles to attract much interest, he could potentially be stuck at for a long time in the same way Bakayoko was.

Given that he is clearly not wanted at Stamford Bridge, it begs the question as to why signed him on a seven-year contract in the first place.

John Obi Mikel recently suggested that Felix may have been shipped out due to being unhappy with his application in training.

” has seen what other managers have seen,” said the former midfielder . “Maybe he’s not good enough. Maybe he’s not training well enough.

“Maybe he’s not applying himself well enough during training or during games or around the place. There must be something that’s made so many managers be like: ‘You know what, thank you very much, you’re not good enough’.”

Felix has only made 12 league appearances for since returning to west London on a permanent deal, chipping in with just one goal. Only time will tell if he can find some form at AC Milan, who will be counting on him to deliver the goods in attack.
