Logan Paul has recalled his interaction with Conor McGregor
YouTube sensation Logan Paul has fired shots at MMA icon , calling him ‘sad’ after a tense encounter in Washington.
The social media celebrity found himself face-to-face with the former two-division UFC champion along with his brother . Fans were left gobsmacked when Jake shared an image on social platforms seemingly cordial with one another.
However, the atmosphere soured when McGregor threatened to slap the Paul siblings. Logan took to YouTube to give his followers a detailed breakdown of what really happened during their interaction. Now, casting further light on their meeting during an Impaulsive podcast episode, the 29 year old discussed his evolution from fearing McGregor to finding humour in the situation.
Logan recalled: “I watched back that footage of Conor talking s*** to us. He said he’s going to slap me, Jake and KSI and then you can see me and Jake like belly laugh. We’re fully laughing at what used to be one of the scariest, baddest men on the planet. As a person who used to be a big fan of Conor McGregor, like back in the day he pioneered crossover boxing, all of that stuff, I watched it back and I actually felt sad. I was like this is a statement that at one point would have actually made us feel fear and now two YouTubers are laughing at this washed up, cracked out fighter, who’s unhinged and there’s no truth in what he’s saying.”
In a surprising twist, the wrestler disclosed that he and his brother unexpectedly ended up on the same bus as the 36 year old McGregor. “They stuck us on a bus together like some sort of f*****g high school field trip,” Paul said. “We were told McGregor was going to pull up like moments [before it happened]. Like ‘just so you know, McGregor’s on the same bus.’ It’s 7 a.m. Jake and I are looking at each other like dude, what are you thinking? This is a horrible idea.”
Despite the potential for conflict, they decided to maintain decorum due to the significance of the day. “We all came to the conclusion that this is a bigger mission at play here, ‘s inauguration, let’s behave as best as we can. Today we’re going to sign as much of a peace treaty as we can. McGregor was very respectful [but] very cracked out, the guy’s got issues. He’s got issues. He’s so entertaining but he has so much energy at 7:30am… he’s permanently wired.”
McGregor had sparked excitement online last month by announcing on X (formerly Twitter) that he was in discussions to face Logan in a boxing exhibition match in India, facilitated by the Ambani family. “The rumours of a bout with Topuria are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon,” he posted.
However, it seems that this highly anticipated bout is no longer on the table, with McGregor attributing the cancellation to the UFC’s disapproval. “It is what it is,” McGregor told “The Schmo”. “The UFC just aren’t into it. The offer was there on the table, in writing. Both athletes will say, ‘He’s not fighting,’ but both athletes are under the TKO banner. UFC, WWE both rising up. The stock price of TKO Holding Ground (is) through the roof. New market in India opened up and booming. It was business savvy, and business sense to make the fight happen. Or should I say the glorified spar happen.” McGregor further elaborated: “In between this waiting period that we find ourselves in before I can get back to the octagon, it made perfect sense on the calendar to go ahead with it. The UFC weren’t into it. The WWE, I’m not sure what their interest in it was. I just knew the UFC weren’t into it.”
