Snow could hit a huge stretch of the UK in just a few days’ time
New weather maps show a barrage of snow and ice stretching from Scotland to the south coast in just a few days.
The latest blitz of is forecast to hit the UK on Saturday, February 8, ushering in a chilly and white 24 hours across the country.
Forecaster suggests that by 6pm on February 8, snow will cover a stretch of the country from the Scottish Highlands down through the Midlands and into London and the southern English coast.
The smattering of white looks increasingly likely to impact those living in the south. Net Weather predicts an 80% chance of snowfall in Birmingham, and Southampton on the first day of the February break.
After several dramatic drops in the mercury during January, temperatures are also set to plummet again, with blanket lows of around -9C descending across the country on February 8 and moving into northeastern Europe.

Temperatures are set to plunge for the whole of the country as the snowfall sets in.
Separately, the ’s long-range forecast suggests that the wintry spell could stick around in the following days, predicting below-average temperatures for northeastern regions and rainfall also likely across the south.
The forecast says there will be “a risk of some sleet or snow showers” as a southeasterly wind moves across the country between February 9 and February 18.
Alongside this, a “smell chance of Atlantic fronds making inroads from the west” could also “bring the possibility of transient snow” to parts of the country, with clear skies and overnight frosts also projected for most of the UK.
Heavy snow is also potentially on the cards later in the month, with a wall of snow predicted to descend across the UK over the upcoming half-term holidays from February 17 to 21.
Plunging the country back into sub-zero temperatures, could again see southern areas covered in snow, including London, Southampton and Kent.
