Fortunately, there’s a crazy number of quick and easy recipes available with a click of a button, and while they all aim to make the same thing, most will have their own technique or ingredient that will make that just a little more special.
This for delicious, “soft” and “chewy” heart-shaped choclate chip cookies uses one simple trick that will take your homemade treats to the next level.
TikToker ‘Carolinegrowing’ shared a video of how to make her cookies.

The first step of the is mixing the dry ingredients which includes three cups of flour, a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda, a teaspoon of baking powder and a teaspoon of salt. Once that is done, it can be set to the side.
Next up it’s the wet ingredients. In a bowl you will want to mix a cup of softened butter, half a cup of white sugar and one and a half cups of light brown sugar.
But remember that simple trick? It’s right in the second step. The video creator said: “I seriously think adding more brown sugar than white sugar makes a difference.”
Blend the three ingredients together until it’s “creamy” before adding in the remaining wet ingredients, three eggs and two cups of chocolate chips.

Add and blend in one egg at a time. The creator noted: “Eggs need to be room temperature and batter needs to be at room temperature because your texture needs to be creamy for it to work.”
Next the flour goes in “a little at a time”, and after giving it another mix you can pop in your two cups worth of chocolate chips or chunks.
Now the cookie dough is all ready to be scooped up into “large dough balls” onto a baking tray lined with baking paper, and before putting them in the oven you can add a few more chocolate chips onto of the dough to make a “prettier cookie”. She also added some pink sprinkles before baking the cookies at 375F which is 190C or gas mark 5.
After ten to 12 minutes your cookies should be “perfectly flat squished together” ready to go. But to get them perfect for Valentine’s Day you want to let them sit for “a minute or two” before using a heart shaped cookie cutter to come out with the same “perfect, soft, melty, chewy” cookies.
