Tom Jones reaches huge milestone with special tribute as fans emotional

has taken to social media to reflect on his “wonderful” life and career, marking a significant milestone.

The 84-year-old singer celebrated the 60th anniversary of his hit song It’s Not Unusual, which was released in 1965 and quickly topped the UK charts before making it into the US top 10, which marked the beginning of a string of successful singles for the Welsh crooner.

The iconic track, which was featured on Tom’s debut album, Along Came Jones, has been covered by numerous artists over the years, including Cher and the Supremes. It also found fame as the soundtrack to the “Carlton dance” in the popular sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

In an post, Sir Tom reflected on the success he’s enjoyed since its release, expressed his gratitude to fans, and promised to share a “rare performance” from his variety series This Is Tom Jones, which aired between 1969 and 1971.

He wrote: “60 years ago, I released It’s Not Unusual, and what a ride it’s been! Back then I would never have believed this one tune would have led on to such a wonderful life and career, full of music, fantastic people and touring all over the world.”

Sir Tom added: “None of this would have been possible without the enduring support from my fans from day one, so thank you, you are sincerely loved and appreciated.

“To celebrate, I’d like to share a rare performance of the song from my sixties TV show THIS IS TOM JONES, which is you can enjoy now on my YouTube channel. Check it out, it’s great fun to see the style and energy of those times. So here’s to music, the stage and YOU!”

The singer was inundated with support from fans as one recalled: “It was released six months before I was born, yet our family had it on all the time and I play it once a day still!!!”

Another added: “Love this song! Brings back great memories. Thank you Sir Tom Jones for your amazing voice and music, over the years!”

The monumental occasion comes hot on the heels of Tom’s international upcoming tour announcement, with dates set across both America and Canada next spring.

Speaking on his anticipated international trek, Tom said: “Thrilled to announce my band and I will be touring the States and Canada this spring! I’m very much looking forward to be performing again for you all, see you along the road soon.”

Tom’s tour will take place between the months of April and May.
