ITV Coronation Street fans work out new ‘romance’ after fire horror

Coronation Street has unveiled the devastating aftermath of a catastrophic fire at the Platt’s iconic residence, following an arson attack by an unidentified individual. David Platt (portrayed by Jack P. Shepherd) and his family have been left grappling with how to repay a substantial debt incurred after stealing money from a gangster.

David attempted to re- his family home, but when this plan fell through, it seemed he would have to sell it. Since then, he has been living in fear for his family’s safety as he desperately tries to raise the funds.

On Monday (February 4), No. 8 , which has been home to the Platts since 1991, was burnt to the ground by an unknown person.

Meanwhile, Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) has been struggling with her heartbreak over Nick (Ben Price) and Toyah’s (Georgia Taylor) relationship.

After the fire broke out, Leanne was seen staring at the inferno with a shocked expression, and on Tuesday (February 4), she became a suspect of arson and was questioned by the police.

While at The Rovers, officer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) asked Leanne about her whereabouts during the fire and questioned whether she had attacked Toyah, reports .

Leanne vehemently denied any wrongdoing, becoming increasingly distressed. “Now you mention it I suppose you do have a motive,” Kit told her.

She assured Kit that she was visiting her son’s grave at the time of the arson attack but was left speechless when asked if she was alone at the cemetery.

“She was with me, we were there together,” Steve quickly interjected, providing Leanne with an alibi.

After sharing a glass of red wine and reminiscing about their friendship, the pair shared a kiss, leaving Leanne visibly emotional.

This has led fans of the soap to speculate that Steve might reignite his romance with Leanne.

One viewer took to social media, tweeting: “# It must be love if Steve is prepared to lie for Leanne fishwife mouth.”
