Trent Alexander-Arnold injury confirmed as Liverpool to be without key defender

Alexander-Arnold was substituted in the second half of ‘s victory over Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon, with Conor Bradley coming off the bench to replace him.

That would mean the English international is forced to sit out of Thursday night’s crunch League Cup semi-final against – a match have to win to keep alive hopes of defending their title.

Spurs will carry over a surprise 1-0 advantage from their first-leg meeting earlier this year, with an FA Cup clash against Plymouth Argyle to follow at the weekend.

But considering hearts had been in mouths when Alexander-Arnold went down injured against Bournemouth, the prospect of him not missing any matches at all will be considered a positive outcome by and fans alike.

Slot had commented on the injury in the aftermath of the weekend win, saying: “He sat on the floor and we had to take him off – he felt something.

“I cannot tell you exactly what it is and how bad it is of course because we are one hour after the game, but it’s never a good sign if a player is asking for a substitution.

“This is not a fact but I would be surprised if he plays on Thursday, but let’s hope he’s back with us as soon as possible.”
