has been caught on camera spitting at a man who taunted him with mentions of Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The Irish fighter has not been far from controversy in recent months and has now reacted to a fan cheering for the former lightweight world champion Nurmagomedov, who defeated McGregor in 2018.

McGregor hasn’t stepped into the octagon since his leg break during the trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier in 2021. He was slated for a comeback fight against Michael Chandler last year but had to withdraw due to a training injury. Despite being sidelined, McGregor continues to grab headlines. He’s known for his unfiltered persona and seems particularly irked by any mention of Nurmagomedov, stemming from a rivalry that ignited after the Russian’s victory over Michael Johnson in 2016.

A recent video has surfaced showing McGregor’s fiery reaction to a fan’s provocation. The footage shows the MMA superstar navigating a shopping centre when he hears a shout of “Let’s go Khabib! ” Unable to ignore the provocation, the 36 year old Dublin native confronts the situation head-on. McGregor appears to spit in the man’s face before striding off, defiantly retorting: “I spit in your face, what do you do? Nothing.” It is not clear when and where the incident took place.

The infamous feud between McGregor and Nurmagomedov culminated inside the Octagon at UFC 229 after years of online antagonism. Dubbed the ‘biggest fight’ in MMA history, Nurmagomedov reigned supreme, overpowering McGregor before securing victory by submission in the fourth round, conclusively ending their feud.

On a more recent note, ex-UFC and Strikeforce athlete Josh Thomson shed light on how McGregor’s enmity with Nurmagomedov signified a pivotal downturn for ‘The Notorious. ‘ During his commentary on the Weighing-In podcast, the former Strikeforce champ remarked: “He’s taken a shift. He’s the heel, and he’s always kind of been the heel, but people also admired him and looked up to him before. The Khabib fight really brought a negative out of him. I felt like he was afraid of Khabib. He knew there was a legitimate threat, and there was nothing he could do about it.”

“There was nothing he thought for sure, ‘If I can catch him, I can knock him out sure’, but I think he knew that in a five-round fight, it was going to be very difficult. The things that came out of his mouth and the things he talked about and said about Khabib’s country, his dad, his village and his wife – unforgivable.”
