A Labour MP was left stumbling for words as quizzed her over the NHS this morning. Health Minister appeared on ITV’s to chat to the host and co-star Ed Balls.
The MP was quizzed on all things related to the NHS that are currently hitting headlines including the use of artificial intelligence to make early diagnosises and how a full report in the treatment of has not been published despite pleas from his victim’s families.
Susanna said: “The NHS won’t publish the report because of patient confidentiality. I wonder if you could just offer your view on this as a Health Minister? Has he not sacrificed his right to confidentiality because of his crimes?”
The MP described it as a “really tragic case” as she said: “The families do want to know what went wrong, and I think that is right.”
She stumbled over her words before continuing: “A lot of evidence about his treatment is already in the public domain. I think it…” Susanna interrupted, asking: “So why isn’t the publishing the full report?

“Surely it’s important for everyone to know the failings in this case? It’s a national significance.” Ms Smyth replied: “Erm… It is my understanding in this case that the family do have access to that report.”
Susanna interrupted once more, saying: “The families do, but we are talking about this report being published so that every body knows what went wrong in this case. And, in fact, the families are calling for the full report to be published.”
The MP began stuttering her words as she tried to form a response. She admitted that she “doesn’t know” because she hasn’t seen the report, as the ITV host cut in once more.
Susanna asked if NHS England should publish the full report, as the MP replied: “I think it’s a conversation that we need to continue around transparency.”

One again the GMB presenter interrupted the show’s guest as they continued to talk over each other, trying to get their points across. Meanwhile, Ed Balls remained silent.
Valdo Calocane killed Barnaby Webber, Grace O’Malley Kumar and Ian Coates last year. He then stole a van and crashed into three other people, who were seriously injured.
Calocane was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia in 2020. His family say they only found out three years later and is calling for a public inquiry and urgent reforms to mental health services.
