Ford’s Power Promise throws in free home charger for Canadians

The program, incentivizing EV sales, runs until March 31, 2025 and covers the Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, and E-Transit

  • Ford of Canada is offering a free home charger and installation on its F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, and E-Transit
  • Well, for most customers: Quebec buyers will instead get a discounted bundle of charger plus installation
  • The program mirrors one rolled out in the U.S. last year

Quebec residents aren’t eligible — instead, they can purchase a bundle of the charger and standard installation for $2,450 plus tax, which Ford says has an estimated retail value of $3,600. The installation must be done by RocketEV Charging Solutions, a Canadian company that Ford has named its national installation partner.

Eligible customers will get a Ford Charge Station Pro charger or similar model, with complimentary installation up to $2,000, or a cash bonus of $2,000. They must take delivery of the charger from an authorized Ford dealer’s stock by the end of June 2025, and the installation must be completed by the end of August.

For public charging, the vehicle’s connected navigation will use the BlueOval program to search for chargers across various networks and add charging stops in the route — providing the vehicle is equipped with a Connected Navigation trial period or subscription. Once the vehicle is plugged in, payment is automatically made through the customer’s FordPass account.

Ford is also expanding its EV support, with customers able to speak to live operators 24/7; and complimentary roadside assistance will include the vehicle’s battery running too low. The program of home charger, public charging, and support basically mirrors that of the one Ford has in the U.S.

In Canada, Ford said it had its best-ever yearly sales of EVs in 2024, with a 66.1% increase in year-over-year sales. While the automaker didn’t break out F-150 Lightning or E-Transit sales separately from their gasoline equivalents, it sold 10,658 copies of the Mustang Mach-E in 2024, compared to 5,026 units in 2023.
