Sean Ono Lennon Mocks Drake While Accepting Beatles Grammy

Drake probably won’t remember the 2025 Grammys fondly.

Not only did rap rival Kendrick Lamar win five Grammys for his anti-Drake diss track “Not Like Us” ― including both Record of the Year and Song of the Year ― but Drake also got shade from a son of one of the Beatles.

Earlier in the evening, Sean Ono Lennon, the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, accepted the Grammy for Best Rock Performance on behalf of his father’s band. He used the occasion to offer some sage advice “to the young people out there.”

Never get into a rap battle with Kendrick Lamar,” Lennon said, referencing Lamar’s long-running beef with Drake that came to a head last spring.

On Friday, Lennon also suggested on social media that “Somebody should check on Drake.”

When a commenter asked for the latest, Lennon replied, “deafening silence.” And after another person asked if Drake had gone to jail, he responded, “Spiritual jail, yes.”

Although Lennon hasn’t explained what, if anything, he has against Drake, AmericanSongwriter.com notes that on a 2018 track with Meek Mill, the rapper said, “I got more slaps than the Beatles.”

In 2019, as Drake was breaking many of the Beatles’ chart records, he celebrated by getting a tattoo where he waves back at the band, pictured walking behind him in “Abbey Road” formation.

Lennon’s mocking of Drake shocked many people on X, formerly Twitter.

Preach, Sean! You’re speaking truth. I’m pretty sure the majority of us wouldn’t even show up to a rap battle with Kendrick Lamar, let alone expect to win #GRAMMYs
