Luke Humphries’ PDC rival Damon Heta has joked should “take a gap year” after the 29-year-old’s . Humphries has now won seven major titles in the span of just two years and sits nearly £800k ahead of as world No 1.

The former world champion’s of darts hasn’t dwindled despite a disappointing Ally Pally exit at the hands of Peter Wright. Humphries breezed past Joe Cullen, Josh Rock, Danny Noppert and Jonny Clayton last week to – sometimes without .

Heta, nicknamed The Heat, took to social media platform X on Monday afternoon and uploaded a photograph of himself, seemingly at a golf course, holding up a ball.

Adorned on the face of said ball was a cropped picture of Humphries, and the caption read: “Taking out some frustration on my new golf balls. Well done @lukeh180 on the win but I think it’s time you have a gap year and go and enjoy your winnings.”

Despite Littler often being the one who steals the darting headlines, Humphries is operating at a seldom-before-seen level – and his bank account is thanking him for it. As per the PDC Order of Merit, he currently sits on just over £1.9million in ranking prize money.

As Heta comically urges Humphries to take some time off and enjoy these winnings, Cool Hand could break the previously unattainable £2m mark. Should he taste victory at the UK Open, which comes with a £110k top prize, he would reach the figure, and he has admitted he’s keen to be the first to do so.

“I better win the UK Open now, hadn’t I,” Humphries joked to . “It obviously would be really nice to do that. It’s not like a goal that you’re looking at and thinking I need to do that.

“The prize money in the world of darts is just going to go up and up over the next few years. Soon it will be a common thing, so someone is going to reach £2million whether I do it or not. But I’d like to be the first one to do it.”
