Diana Ross couldn’t mask her reaction to the winner of the Song of the Year Grammy.
The Motown legend’s surprise appearance at Sunday’s awards had many thinking that her friend and protegé, the one and only Beyoncé, had surely secured the honor.
But when Ross opened the envelope to reveal Kendrick Lamar had won for his hit diss track, “Not Like Us,” the lead Supreme seemed to let out a deflated, “ah.”
Online, people couldn’t help but relate to the diva’s response.
Though many were disappointed by the Song of the Year results, Beyoncé’s night ended on quite the high note.
During the final Grammy of the evening, the superstar snagged the coveted Album of the Year honor for her first time.
“I just feel very full and very honored,” Beyoncé said while accepting her trophy with daughter Blue Ivy Carter at her side. “It is, has been, many, many years, and I just want to thank the Grammys, every songwriter, every collaborator, every producer, all of the hard work.”
