Despite anticipating the loss, Charlotte was taken aback by the “physical pain” it caused.

As an ambassador for the Dogs Trust, Charlotte admitted it took her a “long time” to contemplate bringing another pet into their home. However, she, along with her husband Mark Herbert and daughter Ella Rose, are now ready to adopt a new furry companion.

She revealed: “Last year we lost Bailey, our rescue dog. She was 16 and a big part of our family. We knew it was coming, and I’d said to my daughter, ‘Prepare yourself’, but when it happened, it hit me like a physical pain, which I had not expected. It’s taken us a long time to even think about getting another dog, but this year we’re taking the plunge and welcoming another furry friend into our house.”
