This pretty part of the UK is a great place to visit if you want to see the while still having the option to explore a vibrant town.

Folkestone, in Kent, is a popular place to visit in England for its pleasant coastal setting and picturesque, revitalized harbor area. 

Its development as an important began in the 19th century with the building of the railroad from London.

Since then, it has become a popular for Brits wanting to escape to the coast – from London it takes just 58 minutes to reach Folkstone by train.

If you’re hoping to head to the coast, some of the best spots to visit in the area are Dungeness beach, Dymchurch beach, or Sunny Sands.

One of the best places to visit is Folkestone Harbour Arms. A visitor on said: “It was really good to see the old station redeveloped into a nice area to walk and enjoy rather than being left to crumble or destroyed.

“The surrounding area is great with markets and plenty of food and drink options as well as fun fair style activities if you want.

“When we were there there was also live music. We’d happily recommend people visiting Folkestone go here and see what it has to offer.”

Another is The Leas Promenade which makes for an enjoyable walk.

Along the way, you’ll see plenty of cafes and restaurants to stop off at for a bite to eat or a drink. 

You’ll also pass iconic historical buildings which are known for their grandeur and have become notable spots of interest in the area.

Leading off the path there are several walking routes which you can take to spots along the cliffs.

You can also head into the creative quarter where you’ll find quaint streets full of independent shops.

One visitor said on Tripadvisor: “There’s information on the shop windows showing the original use of the establishments; so different from today! 

“As picturesque as the street itself is, it is worth looking up because there are quite a few interesting wall decorations. 

“It is a short walk from Folkestone’s Harbour Arm and well worth seeking out.”
