When buying a new TV, the name Philips might not instantly spring to mind. However, the technology giant already makes some top-notch teliies and now it’s back with another range of pretty striking OLED TVs. The new screens, which have just been shown off in Barcelona, not only feature fast processors, crystal clear displays and an almost bezel-free design but also the return of smart Ambilight systems.

That’s something LG and won’t currently match with the upcoming Philips OLED+950 and OLED+910 able to beam colours onto your walls that work in sync to exactly match the action on the telly. So, when there’s an icy scene on the screen, your home will turn a cold shade of blue; if the movie heads to the beach, you’ll get walls covered in sunshine.

This smart backlight – which covers all four sides of the TV – makes a nightly boxset binge feel much more interactive, along with adding some extra atmosphere to your living room.

Another nice bonus coming to the OLED+910 model is the inclusion of a soundbar that is powered by British audio experts at Bowers and Wilkins.

The system includes dedicated, front-firing, left, centre and right speakers, with each channel including two 30mm x 50mm mid-range drivers plus a 19mm titanium dome tweeter. Each speaker is also acoustically isolated within its own rigid enclosure to help improve the sound even further.

At the rear of the set is also a dedicated decoupled bass enclosure featuring a 75mm subwoofer supported by four passive radiators.

We’ve not tried the audio yet but Bowers and Wilkins make some of the best speakers in the business so expect this television to sound mightily impressive. It should also mean there’s no need to splash out on a dedicated soundbar.

Other features coming to these screens include lower power consumption which should help those energy bills. Philips also says that both OLED+ will be perfect for those with Xbox or PlayStation consoles. That’s thanks to these TVs offering improved gaming via an updated Game Bar which even detect the game title being played and apply a stored individual profile to the screen.

These screens will also feature the latest version of Google OS. That means there will be easy access to all the most popular streaming apps – such as , Disney+ and Apple TV+ – along with games, movies and even the option to control smart home devices such as Nest cameras.

There’s no word yet on price but we do know release dates.

• The OLED+950 will be launched in September in 65” and 77” screen sizes

• The OLED+910 will be available in June in 55”, 65” and 77” screen sizes

for 2025 with these smart models also launching later this year.
