Michael, also known as Mr Plant Geek on , said there are three household items that are your “Holy Trinity” when it comes to orchid care.
One of the more unusual items was tea. The gardening expert suggested using tea to make your plants look “glossier and healthier”.
He said: “Empty those around the orchids once a month to give them nitrogen in order to help the plants look glossier and healthier.”
As well as using tea, the gardening pro also suggested using egg shells which contain calcium.
Don’t miss… [UPDATE]
Crushing up eggshells once a month and sprinkling them around the plant will make the root system “stronger” and make the plants more “buxom”.
The third item on Michael’s list was milk. However, he suggested using it on your orchid’s leaves rather than pouring it on the plant.
Simply dip some tissue in some milk and rub it across the leaves to get rid of hard water deposits.
