Russell Grant was rushed to hospital after experiencing a worrying health scare.

The 73-year-old astrologer, who performed on in 2011, recalled having difficulty with his left eye before he was forced to attend an emergency appointment.

Russell shared his ordeal on social media, revealing he had a bleed behind his eye but thankfully no damage to his retina.

Writing on X, he said: “Monday: I woke with strange cottony things floating in my left eye. Headed to the opticians for tests. Next day @BlackpoolHosp called: day after into the eye clinic.

He added: “Result: I had a bleed behind my eye but no retinal damage but it seems I have to befriend the floater! No cure.”

Russell thanked those who were able to get him an emergency appointment, as well as the healthcare team and other members of the department at Blackpool hospital.

He added: “It was a New Moon so I knew all would be well. Thank you everyone.”

In 2023, Russell announced that he had been diagnosed with a brain tumour, revealing he had undergone a major operation over Christmas.

The gruelling five-hour operation saw doctors remove the tumour from Russell’s pituitary gland. The surgery was a success, however, last year Russell revealed it may have caused his diabetes to return.

Taking to X, Russell wrote: “Morning. The latest news on my post pituitary brain tumour operation is the possibility I have returned to being diabetic.

“I was once Type 2 but controlled it by diet. However, it’s possible taking so many steroids to keep me going they’ve increased my blood sugar.”

Reflecting on a decade since his unforgettable experience in 2021, Russell reminisced about being launched from a cannon during the show.

“The funniest thing with that is, there I was, turning things down, not thinking I could do them, but with the cannon, I couldn’t wait to do it. In fact, I demanded to rehearse it six times,” he said.

He fondly remembered the overwhelming response he received: “I would in no way swap the memories of the Wembley Arena and 6,000 people standing and giving me an ovation and that was before I had even come out the bloody thing!”
