So it’s that time again. The 2025 Six Nations tournament gets underway tonight with France hosting Wales under the lights in an 8.15pm kick-off in Paris.

The French are heavy favourites to get their campaign off to a winning start with the pressure mounting on Welsh coach Warren Gatland. His side have travelled on the back of 12 straight Test defeats, and following tonight’s game then head to Rome for what could be a do-or-die clash for the New Zealander’s tenure.

England start their campaign in Ireland tomorrow (4.45pm). The home side have selected Sam Prendergast at No.10 despite an injury scare this week, as they bid to become the first nation to win the title for three successive years.

The game follows Scotland taking on Italy in Edinburgh (2.15pm). All sides have now named their squads for the weekend, and will be hopeful of no last-minute injury blows before they kick-off.

Gatland given two games to save job

Former Wales No.10 Dan Biggar believes Warren Gatland will be sacked mid-tournament if Wales lose badly in France and Italy.

Following tonight’s opener in Paris, the Dragons play in Rome eight days later, and Biggar has warned that his former team cannot afford to extend their 12 game losing run.

“I don’t think the Welsh rugby public will stomach it if the losing run extends to 14, 15 or 16 games,” he told the . “The apathy will grow. Welsh rugby is already falling behind football and that will only get worse if the national side can’t win.

“That’s why the round two match with Italy in Rome is so huge. If Wales lose that, it may well spell the end for Warren’s second stint as coach.”

Twickenham bosses consider huge change

The RFU are reportedly considering staging England Six Nations matches on a Friday night if it works for broadcasters.

According to the Guardian, RFU chiefs have reacted to a push from organisers for unions to show more flexibility on kick-off times. So far, France and Wales are the only nations to host Friday night matches since the first in 2009.
