Carole Middleton’s unusual diet that helped her lose weight before Princess Kate’s wedding

proves that age is just a number as she turns 70 today. The mother of often steps out in sophisticated ensembles during high profile events while showing off her flawless figure which is all thanks to lifestyle change, she made just weeks before the .

The mother of the future Queen is said to lead a very healthy lifestyle while also keeping active. She is not only a mother to and , but grandmother to seven grandchildren which include , 11, , nine, and , six.

The brunette beauty has always been image-conscious and has reportedly been an advocate of watching what she eats. According to her brother Gary Goldsmith, who appeared on last year, her mentality surrounding her figure has been passed down to her daughters.

Goldsmith told the Daily Mail: “Carole has always looked after herself and eaten healthily, and she has a stunning figure.” Before adding: “That mentality of considering your diet and exercise is evident in the girls also.”

In 2011, ahead of Kate’s, 43, wedding to , Carole decided to get in shape as the world would be tuning into their big day as she . She took on the Dukan diet, which saw creator Dr Dukan’s book sales soar.

The French theorist who specialises in nutrition claims that the plan allows those partaking to “eat whatever you want and still be thin”, they just have to follow a series of simple principles.

However, you are strictly only allowed to eat particular foods such as blueberries, dates, capers, olive oil and rocket.

This would no doubt suit Carole’s clean living as she is a keen gardener and grows her own vegetables in a lot at the family home.

Carole is a huge fan of the outdoors and encourages her grandchildren to get stuck in with her vegetable patch.

In an interview with Saga magazine, she said: “Digging for spuds is fun at any age.” Whiel also saying that she has successfully been able to grow carrots, beetroot and onions.

Over the years we have seen Carole take on a special role with her grandchildren and is often snapped at events supporting both the Prince and Princess of Wales, and their young children.

“There’s no better way to encourage healthy eating than to allow your grandchildren to see how food is grown and let them pick their own,” she added.

Both Carole and Princess Kate share the same appreciation for nature. During her video that was released that announced she was cancer-free, she credited its healing benefits over the summer.

She was heard saying: “I know the power of nature to support our development and well-being, both by bringing us joy and helping to keep us physically, mentally and spiritually healthy.”
