has opened the door to taking part in and revolutionary golf league, but only if his LIV Golf team is allowed to enter.

TGL, which stands for the Tomorrow Golf League, has been warmly received by professional golfers, pundits and fans after debuting earlier this month in Florida.

The indoor tournament combines top golfers with state-of-the-art technology to bring teams of four players together to compete in two-hour matches.

Teams represent a certain area or city in the United States, with Woods representing the Jupiter Links Golf Club and McIlroy skippering the The Bay’s roster.

Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, Keegan Bradley and Xander Schauffele are just some of the stars included in the exciting new event.

As it stands, there are no LIV Golf players included, which has left the likes of DeChambeau sitting out in the cold. But he hasn’t ruled out joining the list of entrants, providing his team is allowed to compete.

“I think TGL has an interesting opportunity,” DeChambeau said. “I’m all about anything to grow the game, so if it’s helping grow the game, fantastic. I don’t know all the numbers behind it.”

DeChambeau made the comments about golf’s latest venture while playing in Gurgaon for the first International Series event of 2025 on the Asian Tour.

However, the 31-year-old admitted he doesn’t hold much hope of playing, as he believes his ties to LIV would seemingly rule him out of contention.

That’s because Woods and McIlroy have previously voiced their strong opposition to the Saudi breakaway league, which threatened to split golf in two when it was founded in 2022 and lured away the PGA Tour’s top players with lucrative contracts.

Banning all LIV competitors would mean DeChambeau, Jon Rahm and Phil Mickelson being denied a chance to get involved. But the American hinted he would like to participate if given the choice.

“Would it be fun? Yeah, it could be fun,” he added. “I don’t know if they’d pick me [to represent a team] though, I have no idea. I’ve got a [LIV] team over here, the Crushers GC, come on. The Crushers would be a part of that!”

Meanwhile, McIlroy would have been left wounded after failing to convince his countryman Tom McKibbin not to sign a contract with LIV.

The Northern Irishman, 36, advised McKibbin, 22, against giving up his PGA Tour card in favour of the LIV riches. But he has officially joined Rahm’s Legion XII team for the 2025 campaign.

Speaking at the Dubai Desert Classic this month, McIlroy said: “If I were in his position and I had his potential, which I think I have been before, I wouldn’t make that decision.

“But I’m not him. I’m not in his shoes. He’s a grown man at this point and can make his own decisions. All I can do is try to give him my perspective.”
