Princess Beatrice welcomed her daughter Athena last week
gave birth to her second daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, on January 22, with her middle name paying a sweet tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Unlike her older sister Sienna, who also has Elizabeth as her middle name, Beatrice decided to give Athena a second middle name – Rose.
As well as honouring her late beloved grandmother, Rose could also be seen as a tribute to the late Princess Margaret.
The late royal – who is the late Queen’s younger sister – also had Rose as her middle name. Born in 1930, Margaret was the second-born daughter of King George VI and Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.
On Wednesday, the Royal Family’s X account shared a statement, which read: “Her Royal Highness and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12:57pm.

“The baby was born weighing 4 pounds and 5 ounces. The King and Queen, and other members of The Royal Family, have all been informed and are delighted with the news.
” and Mr Mapelli Mozzi would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care.
“Her Royal Highness and her daughter are healthy and doing well, and the family are enjoying spending time together with Athena’s older siblings, Wolfie and Sienna.”
Alongside their statement, the family released a sweet picture of the adorable newborn taken by Edoardo.

Princess Margaret was the late Queen’s younger sister
Showing off her dark hair, Athena is seen wearing a white long-sleeved garment, and wrapped in a pink blanket with her face hidden by her arm.
Beatrice was due to give birth in early spring, and in December received medical advice and was told not to travel long distances.
The royal later joined the at church in Sandringham on Christmas Day after changing her travel plans to spend the festive period overseas.
