UK snow maps show 700-mile wall of blizzards hitting 14 cities with -4C freeze – full list

Parts of Britain could be bucketed in snow in just days, suggest.

Forecast data from indicate that a large swathe of the UK could be set for snowfall on February 10 at 00:00, with a thick blob of purple (indicating snow) stretching from Scotland down to England’s southern coast via major cities including Manchester and London.

More recent maps show more limited snowfall, though much of Scotland, a strip of Northern England and parts of northern Wales are still currently forecast to see flakes fall in just over 10 days time, according to the weather site.

Other maps from suggest temperatures in some parts northern England and Scotland could plunge below zero, dropping as low as -4C in parts of Scotland.

Forecasting this far out is notoriously difficult, with predictions frequently changing as more data comes in.

The ‘s long-range forecast for Monday, February 3rd to Wednesday, February 12 currently anticipates that periods of wet weather “are likely to affect northwestern parts of the UK at times, particularly early in this period”.

The service warns that heavy rain is “possible” with string winds also likely.

The adds that the weather will see temperatures close to normal for most, but there could be brief colder spells in some parts.

For the days ahead, the government agency forecasts that today (Thursday, January 30), most areas will have “a dry day with early frost and mist clearing to leave plenty of sunshine, with a gentle breeze”.

“However, it will be windier in the far northeast with blustery showers, and isolated showers in the west,” it adds.

Friday is currently expected to be fine at first with clear periods, but thickening cloud and rain is expected to move south and east across the UK overnight, bringing some hill snow. “Patchy frost ahead, and following the rain”, the says.

Meanwhile, Friday is expected to be, “Rather cloudy across central, southern and eastern areas with rain and hill snow slowly dying out. Some hill fog. Mostly fine further north and west with bright or sunny spells.”
