This might be the hottest wagon of the century, and no, it’s not for North America
- BMW teases wagon fans with the M3 CS Touring, and its expected 543 hp and weight-saving carbon fibre
- Like the standard M3 Touring, the CS variant is not expected to be available in North America
- The model will likely include enhanced cooling, stiffer engine mounts, and upgraded interior features
BMW has previewed an upcoming high-performance variant of the M3 Touring, dubbed the M3 CS Touring. Expected to follow the same formula as the M3 CS sedan, the new model should receive additional power and weight-saving measures. However, like the standard M3 Touring, the CS version is not expected to be available in North America.
The German automaker released teaser videos on Instagram, showing a camouflaged M3 CS Touring prototype. While details remain limited, the teasers minimally confirm the presence of a CS badge, a red accent line around the grille, and significant carbon-fibre trim. The model may also feature the black hood panels seen on the M3 CS sedan.
Beneath said hood, the M3 CS Touring is expected to carry the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six as the M3 CS sedan, which delivers 543 hp and peak torque at 479 lb-ft. This represents a 20-hp increase over the standard M3 Competition models. BMW may introduce additional tuning, though exact specifications remain unconfirmed.
Mechanical enhancements will likely consist of a revised cooling system, stiffer engine mounts, and weight reductions achieved using carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic. Inside, the M3 CS Touring is anticipated to feature carbon-fibre-backed sports seats with heating and power adjustments, similar to the M3 CS sedan’s perches.
BMW has not yet announced pricing, but for reference, the 2024 M3 CS sedan was priced at $148,000 in Canada. The M3 CS Touring is expected to be officially unveiled soon, though it is unlikely to be sold in North America. I guess we can’t really complain… We do have the possibility of ordering a G99 M5 Touring for those blessed with a spare $150k.
