Sports reporter Paul Coyte has recalled his brief encounter with Clare Balding
Paul weakly admitted: “Well, no” to which the 31-year-old broadcaster said: “Ah, well, it’s a two-way street, these kinds of things”, to which he conceded: “It is a two-way street.”
It was at this point that the team guessed the presenter’s age as she celebrates her birthday with her nearest and dearest, and viewers were soon left cringing at ther responses.
Ellie guessed: “She’s 62” to which Eamonn Holmes chuckled “No way” as Paul quipped: “I don’t she’ll be talking to you so at least it’s not just me” which pushed the newsreader to ask to give another guess.
She insisted: “Can I retake, my first thought was 58 so let’s go with that” to which the sports presenter added: “You’re going to go with 58, so she still won’t talk to you.”
It was then Eamonn’s turn to guess her age, as he pondered: “I think she’s about 50” before Paul revealed: “[She’s] 54. You two always do this, one of you always goes high and the other goes low.”
It comes after GB News fans slammed proposals to include streaming services as part of the license fee. At the start of the show, Eamonn Holmes and Ellie Costello put a poll on the subject to their viewers and fans made their feelings clear online.
Taking to X – formerly known as Twitter – one user fumed: “For one thing they would have to call it a tax. Secondly, how will they enforce it? I thik they will find it impossible, because it’s something everyone feels strongly about and would cost more to take everyone to court than they would raise.”
Another added: “It’s because they’re going bust. Just say you don’t stream either. What are they going to do, visit every household that doesn’t have a license? They haven’t got legal right to enter a property. I don’t watch a streaming service of the . They’re playing dirty now, do the same.”
