Opera sensation Wynne Evans has been under fire recently following allegations that hes been removed from the live tour. The Welsh tenor, aged 53, was touring with the troupe until a video emerged showing him make an inappropriate sexual comment about a colleague.
He has since offered an apology for the comment, leading to producers issuing him a warning, PA news agency reports. The made it clear that such behaviour is not tolerated on the tour.
In response to these developments, before the news of his supposed tour ejection broke, Wynne’s brother, Mark Llewellyn Evans, stepped up in support. Taking to social media, Mark applauded his brother, extolling his “heart of gold”.
His heartfelt statement read: “As a brother, I want to express my unwavering support for him during this challenging time. Wynne has a heart of gold and the courage of a lion, paired with a talent that outshines most. His charisma and humour have brought joy to countless people.”
Mark concluded with tags to @BBCRadioWales @BBCTV in his social media defence. Meanwhile, Radio Wales declared that Wynne will be ‘taking a break’ from his celebrated radio gig, reports .
In a touch of personal sorrow earlier this month, Wynne shared the heart-rending news about his eldest brother Huw’s death. Mourning the loss, he penned on : “I’m so sad to say that my gorgeous eldest brother has passed away. My big brother was my hero and my inspiration. Huw my darling I will miss you so much and am so glad I got to have you with me all my life.”
Over reports of his contentious remarks, Wynne spoke to The Mirror, admitting: “My language was inappropriate and unacceptable, for which I sincerely apologise.”
Following his absence from the Glasgow shows due to injury, yet being seen with the tour cast in Liverpool, it appears he will no longer participate in the tour. His Strictly colleagues, including dance partner Katya Joneswho hailed him as an “incredible person” in a birthday wishhave expressed their support.
An insider revealed to The Sun concerning Wynne’s circumstances: “He’s had repeated warnings about his behaviour and told to rein it in. He’s not been taking it in, in this day and age the have to be seen taking action and safeguard everyone. He’s had a tough time with the death of his brother and people should give him some slack, he is going to take this time off to do some self reflection. He has a lot of support from a lot of the backstage dancers. It’s been a really sad ending to what has been a really fun tour.”
Moreover, the source stated that Wynne felt remorse, commenting: “He was very apologetic and fully agreed that what he said was inappropriate and unacceptable. He was given a warning and told in no uncertain terms that that kind of language is not tolerated.”
Moreover, it was stated that although he takes pleasure in cracking jokes, “on this occasion he just didn’t think and overstepped the mark”.
