Michelle Visage issues stern warning to Donald Trump over ‘two gender’ policy

Drag Race star Michelle Visage took to social media to blast following the controversial implementation of new policies.

Just hours after his inauguration, proclaiming that the US government will recognise only two sexes.

Trump stated: “It will henceforth be the official policy of the government that there are only two genders, male and female.”

As a result, he signed the new legal definition of sex that strips federal recognition of the gender identity of some 1.6 million trans and nonbinary Americans.

Visage, who has publically spoken out about being a mother to a queer child who she described as “basically transitioning,” issued a warning on her story.

The TV star penned: “You will not erase my child,” over a video of Trump speaking about the order, which was posted by prominent rights organisation GLAAD.

It was captioned: “When he says Make America Great Again, he clearly doesn’t mean it for all Americans.”

Among other fans in the comments, the video also caught the eye of Drag Race alum Kerri Colby who commented: “Absolutely not.”

Visage also shared a post to her story slamming America’s new presidency: “When a clown moves into a palace, he doesn’t become a king. The palace becomes a circus.”

Last year at the 35th GLAAD Media Awards, Visage opened up about raising a queer child and the importance of showing them “love”.

She said: “I have a queer child who is basically transitioning and for me, it was a matter of allowing yourself grace to realise this is not the child you thought you were getting.

“They’re authentically themselves, they’re not living a lie, they didn’t ask to be born the way that they’re born, it just happened that way, and all they really need is love.”

She added: “Give yourself grace, give yourself time and patience and just love your child.”
