The Welsh opera singer has been hit with heavy backlash after making a joke about having a threesome with his co-star during a group photoshoot.

He was heard using the crude phrase “spit roast” in reference to the pro dancer while speaking to as the two men posed alongside Janette.

A source has now told the Sun: “He’s had repeated warnings about his behaviour and told to rein it in. He’s not been taking it in, in this day and age the have to be seen taking action and safegaurd everyone.

“He’s had a tough time with the death of his brother and people should give him some slack, he is going to take this time off to do some self reflection. He has a lot of support from a lot of the backstage dancers. It’s been a really sad ending to what has been a really fun tour.”

Evans has publicly apologised for his comment, saying: “My language was inappropriate and unacceptable for which I sincerely apologise.”

Initially he was simply slapped with a warning by bosses, with a spokesperson for the broadcaster confirming they “do not tolerate such behaviour”.

However, he is now reportedly being axed from the Strictly live tour altogether. Wynne already agreed to after the remark.

A spokesperson for the station confirmed: “Wynne is taking some time off from his show on Radio Wales. Robin Morgan will be presenting in his place.”

It seems the predictions of PR experts have now rung true, as they previously warned that Wynne had a high chance of losing his job with the over this scandal.

Brand and culture expert Nick Ede told MailOnline: “I think the will have to tread very carefully with Wynne as his controversial and lewd comments will soon outweigh his popularity and the won’t tolerate this anymore.

“He will hanging on to his position but all eyes will be on him and if he makes another negative move the may have to sever their ties with him.”

The incident during the photocall was recorded and a video of the moment he made the sexual joke was published by the Daily Mail. In the clip he could be seen warning “not too close to Jamie” as the dancers and stars got into position for a photoshoot.

He then used the offensive term “spit roast” in reference to a crude sexual act. A spokesperson for Janette said she had been “unaware of this comment”.

This comes after Evans already for appearing to “grope” his dance partner Katya Jones while on camera. During his stint on Strictly, a clip went viral where he could be seen placing his arm around Katya’s waist, before inching lower and appearing to brush her stomach.

Katya moved his hand away, but the pair later clarified that this was a “silly inside joke”. They both addressed the backlash with an apology video, where the Russian dancer said: “We were just messing around in the Clauditorium and just want to say sorry.”

Wynne added: “I’m absolutely heartbroken by the things that have been written about me in the last day. Katya and I are really, really close and really good friends. It was a stupid joke that went wrong, OK?

“We thought it was funny. It wasn’t funny. I’m sorry if anybody was offended by it, but it was a joke. I feel weird apologising because I feel like I’ve not done anything.”
