Is this the Hawaii of Europe!???

Located in the Atlantic ocean are the Azores, a archipelago composed of nine volcanic islands, similar to ‘s make-up.

Dave in Portugal was quick to compare the Azores to the paradise US state, but said the Portuguese islands are much less popular than the American alternative and more affordable.

“The Azores don’t have a city as big as Honolulu, so the nightlife, the dance clubs and the parties aren’t as big here,” he said. “But the capital Ponta Delgada is very beautiful and very quaint.

“If you are more of a nature person, then the Azores might be for you. There are so many awesome places to hike and swim. Activities like four wheeling and whale watching, and you can even swim with dolphins. Definitely recommended if you want a vacation a little bit off the grid.”

Commenting on Dave’s video, one user said: “Been their 6 times it’s better than Hawaii.”

Another user wrote: “Why is portugal keeping it as a secret??”, while a third user said: “Omg. This is so beautiful”

The Azores are often compared to Madeira, another popular Portuguese archipelago located just north of the canary islands. While the islands have quite similar topographies, the Azores may prove the better holiday destination if you’re looking to be away from the hustle and bustle of a bigger city, as Madeira is the more popular destination among tourists.

When asked whether they should go to Madeira or the Azores, user superazores said: “Go to Madeira first, because if you go to the Azores afterwards you will be surprised. If you go to the Azores first, then Madeira will be boring.”
