BBC viewers expressed outrage over the broadcast of Wynne and Joanne: All At Sea on Monday (27 January), starring and Joanna Page.

The backlash ensued after revelations that Wynne made a sexualised comment to Janette Manrara at the live tour launch earlier this month in Birmingham.

Many viewers deemed it inappropriate for the to air the coastal exploration show, taking to social media to voice their discontent.

Some viewers even vowed to boycott Wynne’s future TV appearances, with comments like: “Just a thought , but maybe this #AllAtSea prime time claptrap could have been postponed for a while?” and “…get him off my b****y telly,” on social media.

Another angry viewer said: “What on earth are you doing showcasing tonight? ” and vowed, “I will never watch anything with Evans involved. #BBC1 #WynneEvans.”

Responding to the fallout regarding his comment to his Strictly co-star, Wynne issued a statement, admitting: “My language was inappropriate and unacceptable, for which I sincerely apologise.”

The scandal garnered widespread attention, becoming a topic of conversation on daytime TV shows such as ITV’s Lorraine, where the host commented on Wynne’s actions and even issued him a warning, reports .

TV host Lorraine Kelly didn’t mince her words, saying: “Do better, mate,” before adding: “The former opera singer has been in the headlines, though, after being overheard making a crude sexual remark towards It Takes Two presenter Janette during a photocall. I shan’t say what he said, suffice to say, it’s really not on.”

A representative for the Strictly Live Tour and Studios stated: “We have made it very clear to Wynne that we do not tolerate such behaviour on the tour. We were not previously aware of the remark and did not receive any complaints.”

Wynne participated in the previous year’s edition of alongside professional dancer Katya Jones, and the duo finished in eighth place.
